Uniform Wetlook Study with Prudence
Putting a smart green skirt uniform to the wetness test
Join Prudence, smartly dressed in bottle green knee-length skirt, pale green blouse, and black leather boots, for a slow and careful fully dressed hosing down, as she checks if this outfit is suitable for Hall staff to wear wet.
As regular visitors know only too well, any visit to her ladyship's remote and rambling manor house is liable to involve at the very least a thorough soaking or two. The hall servants go about their work in the full knowledhge that they can expect at least a couple of fully clothed drenchings a week, and indeed are provided with plentyful spare uniforms, and spare time in their working days, to allow for drying off and changing time. During the heat of the high summer months it's common, and indeed encuraged, for drenched retainers to simply carry on with their work in their wet clothes. So of course it is very important that any new uniform anyone wishes to wear is thoroughly tested for suitability to be worn soaking wet.
In this case, Prudence the Housekeeper has come up with a rather fetching ensemble in shades of green, which she proposes to wear instead of her usual shiny blue and black uniform, when her day calls for her to spend significant time outdoors, for example at her ladyship's annual garden party, or the yearly local girls' mud-wrestling tournament, both of which are held in the Hall's grounds, and at both of which Prudence usually finds herself pitched into a vat of gunge, in full uniform, at least once.
So here she is, all green and formal, taking a very thorough hosing down at Modesty's hands, just to be completely sure her new outfit will look good when she clambers out of one of the estate streams or water troughs wearing it, as she invariably will eventually.
